Rachel Whiteread’s latest exhibition, “Internal Objects’, is an ode to lost bodies and the ghosts of our language. Showing now at Gagosian in London, Whiteread’s sculpture gives a unique incarnation to the uncanny, through its focus on the specific process by which familiar shapes and objects can be made alien to their observer.

Whiteread employs the formal language of Minimalism, taking cues from its emphasis on geometric seriality, yet adds a quietly emotive aspect, maintaining an acute sensitivity to objects’ minor details and subtle markers of use and human irregularity.

Migrate Art presents ‘Scorched Earth’ a charity auction and exhibition of new works by leading artists, organised in direct response to the widespread deliberate destruction of crop fields in Iraq. The participating artists have created new works using paint pigmented with ash collected by Migrate Art from land scorched by these fires.

Artworks by major contemporary British artists including Damien Hirst, Rachel Whiteread and Tracey Emin have been given a permanent home at Pallant House Gallery. The six works by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Peter Blake, Rachel Whiteread, Gavin Turk and Michael Craig Martin are a gift to the Gallery from Frank and Lorna Dunphy under the Cultural Gifts Scheme.

There was a party atmosphere last night at the Zabludowicz Collection, celebrating their 20 years. The well healed mixed happily with young artists who were mostly milling around the bar and the food van. Inside we were treated to some highlights from the collection, we had important pieces by Sarah Lucas, Tracey Emin, Damian Hirst, Maria Lassnig, Sigmar Polke, Martin Creed and Rachel Whiteread.
