An attempt by the Duke of Marlborough and his brother to install an artwork called Gilded Cage by Ai Weiwei a 25ft golden cage in the gardens of their family seat at Blenheim Palace is being opposed by Historic England.
Blenheim Art Foundation is to present Yves Klein at Blenheim Palace, a solo exhibition by the visionary French artist, the exhibition, which is presented in collaboration with the Yves Klein Estate, coincides with what would have been the artist’s ninetieth birthday year.

The exhibition will showcase works conceived by the artist over the last several decades, in addition to significant, site-specific works, created especially for the Palace. Integrated throughout the ornately furnished Palace rooms, as well as the monumental exterior of the 18th century building, the exhibition is a continuation of the artist’s practice, using language as a medium to create a multitude of sculptural forms for this UNESCO World Heritage site.
Tomorrow, on Thursday 9th April from 5am (GMT), the celebrated Chinese artist and social activist,Ai Weiwei will take over the Blenheim Art Foundation Instagram account for 24 hours.
