MK Gallery is one of the UK’s leading centres for contemporary art, presenting an ambitious programme of exhibitions that brings internationally renowned artists to Milton Keynes. Since opening in 1999 and expanding into its award-winning building designed by 6a architects in 2019, the gallery has established a reputation for pairing major solo exhibitions with thematic group shows, alongside an extensive programme of learning, public events and independent cinema. It is also the only contemporary visual arts organisation within a 40-mile radius to commission and present international contemporary and modern art on this scale.

Across five galleries, MK Gallery presents three major exhibitions each year, showcasing artists from across contemporary art while working closely with local, national and international partners. Its exhibition history includes presentations by Andy Warhol, Jeremy Deller, Michael Craig-Martin, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Vanessa Bell and many others, reflecting a programme that balances historical perspectives with some of today’s most significant artistic voices. Beyond exhibitions, the gallery hosts talks, workshops, community projects and a Curzon-operated independent cinema, positioning itself as a multidisciplinary cultural hub for the region.

As a member of the Plus Tate network and part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio, MK Gallery continues to play a significant role in the UK’s contemporary art landscape, connecting Milton Keynes with international artistic practice while supporting education, participation and cultural exchange.
