Albert Oehlen: Born in 1954 in Krefeld, Germany, Albert Oehlen is a renowned artist who currently resides and creates in Switzerland. His works are featured in prestigious collections worldwide, including Tate in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Kunsthaus Zürich. Notable museums showcasing his art include Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Germany, Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Oehlen’s art has also graced the walls of the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, FL, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.
Throughout his career, Oehlen has participated in numerous exhibitions, leaving an indelible mark on the art world. Highlights include showcases at Museo di Capodimonte in Naples, Italy (2009), Museìe d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris for “Reìaliteì Abstraite” (2009), and Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany for “Terpentin” (2012). His works have been featured in prominent events like the 55th Biennale di Venezia (2013) and “Home and Garden” at the New Museum in New York (2015). Oehlen’s exhibitions have spanned the globe, from the Guggenheim Bilbao in Spain for “Behind the Image” (2017) to the Aïshti Foundation in Beirut for “TRANCE” (2018) and Palazzo Grassi in Venice for “Cows by the Water” (2018–19).
Recent exhibitions have continued to showcase Oehlen’s innovation and talent, such as “Unfertig” at Lokremise Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland (2019), and his presentation at Serpentine Galleries in London (2019–20). His latest exhibition, “Big Paintings by Me with Small Paintings by Others,” captivated audiences at the Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, Switzerland (2021–22), and the Friedrichs Foundation in Weidingen, Germany (2023).
