The book’s first edition, titled Kyiv during the Russian War against Ukraine, features a chronological reconstruction of the events, eyewitness accounts, and photographic evidence, providing readers with a unique perspective on personal experience and everyday life.
Through the lens of Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, the book captures Russia’s attempt to capture the city and the experiences of its residents during this challenging time. The edition features twelve personal testimonies from individuals of different ages, professions, and social statuses, including an animal rights activist, an artist, an 80-year-old historian, and a businessman who lost goods worth over 16 million euros due to Russian shelling.
Ai Weiwei, Olafur Eliasson & Stefan Sagmeister have raved about the book and acknowledged it’s relevance & timelessness.
The first edition of Living the War is divided into five chapters, with each chapter focusing on a specific period, starting from the threat of war in January and ending with the destruction of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure by missiles and drones in October.
