Frieze Art Fair 2016

The Art Fair season begins this week with START art fair and runs till late October taking in London, Paris and now New York. Below is FAD’s guide to the 9 art fairs to visit.

START September 15-18
The art fair of emerging art and new art scenes returns for its third edition. 60 galleries from 35 cities.

Crossroad October 6-9
From the team responsible for Pinta art fair comes Crossroads a muti- cultural fair with a South American leaning showing 50ish galleries and multiple projects. crossroads.net

Frieze London October 6-9
The 14th edition will feature over 1,000 artists. This year sees a new gallery section The 90’s where 14 galleries will revisit seminal exhibtions of the decade.

Frieze Masters
130 galleries showing work from ancient to late 20th century. Sir Norman Rosenthal curating Collections- a collection of 7 specialist galleries plus a new Reading Room and art advisory service for VIPs.

1:54 Contemporary African art fair October 6-9
The Biannual fair with editions in New York and London. This year back at Somerset House with galleries from 18 countries. The fair is accompanied by Forum an events program curated by Cameroonian born Koyo Kouoh.

Moniker October 6-9

Sunday Art Fair October 6-9
Held at P3 this is probably the most experimental/ edgy of the fairs to see showing 24 international galleries. This year is also the second year of Print Portfolio a great place to pick up print editions of future art stars. sundayartfair.com

Fiac Paris October 20-23
The 43rd edition of the fair features a new section for sculpture and a performance festival Parades. 187 galleries from around the world. fiac.com

Tefaf New York October 21-26
TEFAF that has operated in Maastricht since 1988 announced it was launching two fairs in New York one in Autumn one in Spring 2017. This first fair is focused on antiquity to the 20th Century. The fair will form the centrepiece of the newly launched Tefaf week in New York. tefaf.com
