The international news television channel and RFI, the international news radio station, are launching the first Web Documentary Award at the 21st Visa pour l’Image festival.
A web documentary is a documentary broadcast on the Internet, using a combination of photos, texts, sound and videos and has an interactive dimension. The FRANCE 24-RFI Award will honour the web documentary that sets itself apart from the other entries in terms of choice of subject, originality and innovative use of new multimedia tools.
Candidates should in particular demonstrate innovation and contribute to the development of a modern approach to the news on the web.
In creating this award, FRANCE 24 and RFI aim to encourage new ways of exploiting the Internet and new media that promote original treatment of the news.
This initiative reflects the ongoing multimedia strategy of FRANCE 24 and RFI, media who strive to be at the cutting edge of new technology and innovative news coverage.
FRANCE 24 and RFI are partners of the Visa pour l’Image photojournalism Festival, which has brought together a great number of photojournalists and representatives of the international press over the last 20 years. The festival provides the perfect platform for the FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award.
The jury, made up of international personalities from the world of news, documentaries, photography and new media, will present the award at the 21st edition of Visa pour l’Image (29th of August to the 13th of September 2009, Perpignan).
