opening its new space with Privacy Index, a group exhibition exploring the shifting nature of surveillance and visibility in contemporary life
Nicholas Cheveldave (b. 1984, Trinidad and Tobago) is a Trinidadian contemporary artist working primarily in painting and mixed media. His work explores Caribbean identity, memory and cultural symbolism through expressive compositions that combine figuration with abstraction. Nicholas Cheveldave often draws on personal experience, folklore and regional history to construct layered images that reflect the complexity of postcolonial Caribbean culture.
Cheveldave’s paintings frequently feature dynamic brushwork, bold colour and fragmented figures. These elements create scenes that move between narrative and gesture, allowing the work to address both individual stories and broader social histories. Nicholas Cheveldave’s practice engages themes of migration, spirituality and belonging, positioning his work within wider discussions of contemporary Caribbean art.
Nicholas Cheveldave has exhibited internationally in galleries and art fairs, contributing to the growing global visibility of Caribbean contemporary painting. His work situates him within a generation of artists exploring identity, history and cultural memory through expressive painting.
