We’ve been setting up the Catlin Art Prize Fifth Anniversary show over the past few days and apart from few minor tweaks, we’re almost at the finish line. The five recent graduates up for the £5,000 prize – Leah Capaldi, Noemie Goudal, Darren Harvey-Regan, Russell Hill and Juliette Losq – have been enjoying most of the attention in the press, but there’s some real gems on offer from the other 12 artists invited back to exhibit. Last year’s prize winner, Reynir Hutber, has been filming a site-specific piece while Jasmina Cibic has been busying away in a darkened room – and from what I’ve seen so far the results will be stunning. Here’s a peep at what she’s been up to – an installation piece called Bird Cage (after Pierre-Émile Legrain) and yep, that’s a real hawk perched on the top. No messing around with taxidermy for us. That’s yesterday’s news.
