Top 5 things to do and see during Mayfair Art Weekend

The sixth edition of Mayfair Art Weekend will runs from Friday 28th – Sunday 30th June 2019. Mayfair Art Weekend presents an opportunity to celebrate and explore the rich cultural heritage of Mayfair as one of the world’s most historic and thriving art quarters for creativity and craftsmanship.

This year will see the participation of celebrated local and international galleries, including Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian and Victoria Miro, who will host exhibitions of internationally recognised artists, ranging from modern masters to contemporary art.

New galleries for 2019 including Waddington Custot, Galerie Max Hetzler, Contini Contemporary, Unit London, D Contemporary, Lyndsey Ingram, Prahlad Bubbar and BASTIAN Gallery – who have recently unveiled their first international space on Davies Street. Another first included Cardi Gallery, who will be displaying works in the UK for the very first time in their exhibition TRIBUTE to MONO-HA, an anthology exhibition dedicated to the pioneering Japanese movement Mono-ha.

1 The Gallery HOP! Will launch the weekend with special evening viewings and events from 6-8pm on Friday 28 June. Highlights include a live jazz performance at Cynthia Corbett Gallery and an immersive soundscape created by DJ Cedric Bardawil at Waddington Custot. mayfairartweekend.com/hop/

2 You can view the designed flags by International renowned artist Sir Michael Craig-Martin CBE RA, throughout London’s West End.

3 For 2019, Mayfair Art Weekend will host ‘MAW Live’ at the Cork Street Galleries; an events programme that includes talks, creative workshops and panel discussions.

4 Coinciding with the 200th anniversary year of the Burlington Arcade, a large sculptural work by contemporary British artist, Philip Colbert will be installed at the entrance of the arcade.
