Stanley Picker Lectures at The ICA
Doug Ashford is a teacher, artist and writer. He is Associate Professor at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art where he has taught three-dimensional design, sculpture, public art and theory seminars since 1989.

Independent writer and curator Ellen Mara De Wachter leads a panel discussion exploring the questions, challenges and potential surrounding emerging practices, the consumption of art, and the various ways artists can make a living from their work.

An informal afternoon of presentations and group discussion led by Andrew Brown, Maria Teresa Ortoleva and Alexandra Gbedemah. The session will present ideas around memory and failure including contemporary sites of ruination post 2008, art practices that engage with sites of dereliction, images of the mind, mnemonic images and short texts by Robert Smithson, Brian Dillon and Henri Bergson.

Sunday, 21st
In this workshop influenced by fairy tales, make believe and fantasy, join artist educator Nicola Pomery to transform the Education Room into a collective playhouse. Families will intuitively construct and convert materials into strange environments, absurd shelters and make-shift caves. Feel free to bring tents and camping gear from home!
