New 5,000+ sqft Art Gallery for Central London

Based in Paris (since 1999) and Shanghai (since 2009), Magda Danysz is opening a London Pop-Up Gallery on May 14th. The Art Gallery is located on 61 Charlotte Street and is over 5000 square feet it is set

to be the new dynamic contemporary art place of London.

MD Gallery was one of the first galleries to support Digital, Video, and Street Art.
Presenting exhibitions by artists who have gone onto become key players in the international art world including: OBEY, JR, Space Invader, Vhils, Futura. Erwin Olaf and Prune Nourry.
MD gallery has also now started to specialise in Chinese Contemporary Photography.

THE LONDON PROJECT
“The London Project” building on their previous successes such as “Les Bains Douches” in Paris, back in 2013 (held in the mythical 80s Les Bains Douches club), or “Look Through” in the historic Bund18 building in Shanghai, in 2014.

MD Gallery are using the basement of their new building to run a 4 month ‘residency’ featuring someogf the most interesting artists they work with- They say:

Divided into a sleek and luminous exhibition space, aimed at hosting regular shows presenting painting, sculpture, photographs from various and renowned artists, the Gallery space is also composed of a large set of basements and vaults which will be fully devoted to a secret artistic project.
This “London Project” will be capturing the artistic dynamism and creativity inspired by the location and the city of London, with major and iconic artists taking over each and every inche of the space.

With live artworks during a period of 4 months, private visits will be organized for a limited public to witness the creative process and the various technics before being fully unveiled at the end of this project.

About
Magda Danysz is a Paris and Shanghai based gallery owner. Magda Danysz, 41, has accumulated twenty years of experience and is now at the head of two galleries and her newly inaugurated ‘London Project’. The first one is 500m2 in the center of Paris, the second one 1,000 m2 in Shanghai. Inaugurated first on the Bund, the “MD Gallery” in Shanghai moved in 2012 to a 1,000m2 new space in the North Bund area becoming the largest ground floor gallery in Shanghai, offering an exceptional exhibition space to the artists.
Magda Danysz has organized her first exhibition at age 17 in 1991. Therefore she has continued organizing shows to the present days, with various exhibitions ranging from video to painting or street art with major artists like Shepard Fairey, JR, Vhils; photography with Erwin Olaf, Julian Schnabel or the young Alain Delorme or contemporary Chinese artists like Maleonn, Yang Yongliang, Zhang Dali and the famous Huang Rui and Wang Keping who launched contemporary art in China back in 1979. She has built a platform for exchanges between the Chinese and the international art scene. Among many other projects she brought to Shanghai “The Wrinkles of the City” project by JR in 2010 on the occasion of Shanghai Biennale were she was appointed member of the head committee.

Magda Danysz’s commitment to contemporary art is not confined to the gallery walls. She has also participated in about 30 art fairs around the world of Brussels, Hong Kong, New York or Miami and many outside projects such as curating exhibition for museum of artists residency.

Magda Danysz has also taught cultural policies at Sciences Po Paris. She is on the board of the cultural digital arts center “Le Cube” un Issy-les-Moulineaux. In 2007, she has been decorated by the French ministry of culture as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. She has also written various art book as her 400 pages “Anthology of street art” or more recently the book “Les Bains-Résidence d’Artistes”.
Always looking for new challenges, she is opening her third space in London in May 2015.
