ARTIST OPPORTUNITY: Online submission for the 2014 Threadneedle Prize now open

Overview
The 7th edition of the prestigious Threadneedle Prize: Figurative Art Today is now open for online submissions.
The Threadneedle Prize is one of the most high profile art prizes in the UK, with a cash prize of £20,000 and a solo exhibition at Mall Galleries in 2015.

As detailed on the Threadneedle Prize website:

“Figurative art is more than ever at the forefront of contemporary art practice and is always a subject of debate. With many high profile art prizes tending towards conceptual and abstract works, The Threadneedle Prize deliberately sets out to examineFigurative Art Today, producing a comprehensive current survey.
Artists are encouraged to submit fresh and intriguing works that are strong and topical observations or interpretations on the World around us.”

Restrictions
Artists aged 18 or over practising in the UK and Europe can apply.
All works entered must have been completed after 1 January 2013, and must not have been exhibited in any other prize or competition in the UK or elsewhere. They must be available for sale through Mall Galleries (45% commission.

Key dates
Online submission closes at noon on 3rd July 2014. Pre-selection notification will be by noon on 10 July 2014

Cost of entry
Cost of entry is £12 per work – artists can submit up to five works of art for consideration by the judging panel.

The judging panel
This year’s judging panel comprises the highly regarded Arts Commissioning Editor and Art Critic at The Times, Nancy Durrant; internationally exhibited and collected sculptor, Kevin Francis Gray; Independent Advisor and Curator at the Hiscox Collection, Whitney Hintz; and Gallerist and Founder of Art Dubai, John Martin.

The Prize
The Winner of the 2014 Threadneedle Prize will receive a cash prize of £20,000 plus a one week exhibition at Mall Galleries in 2015 (with a value of £15,000).
Each of the five shortlisted artists will receive £1,000+, and every artist selected for the exhibition is eligible to win the Visitors’ Choice Award (a further prize of £10,000).
