Protein is to present Windowpane, the first ever solo show by cartoonist Joe Kessler. The exhibition marks the release of Joe’s first book, synonymously titled Windowpane, which has been risograph printed at Victory Press and published by Breakdown Press. Windowpane consists of a collection of seven short stories that capture his confident and expressive style. Loosely connected by a bridging theme of ‘fire’, the allegorical content of the stories is as impressive as the aesthetic output. Having made its debut at this year’s Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival, the exhibition will celebrate the book’s UK release by showcasing screen prints, process separations and original drawings – all of which will be on sale, alongside the book, throughout the duration of the show.
Joe Kessler
At 24 years old, Joe is fast making a name for himself and spends his time between his Hackney based studio, working at Nobrow and teaching a comic drawing course at Camberwell College of Art. Having already produced comics for an impressive array of publications such as Nobrow Press, It’s Nice That and Landfill Editions, Protein is pleased to be involved in this exciting step forward in Joe’s no doubt prosperous cartooning career
