The title of Kingston University’s 2012 MA Fine Art Degree Show is borrowed from Peter Fischli & David Weiss’ publication Will Happiness Find Me? (2003), in which the Swiss artists confront the reader with a set of questions that are by turns playful, poetic and philosophically acute. In lieu of writing a conventional press release for their Degree Show (a problematic enterprise for an exhibition of this sort) Kingston’s MA Fine Art students offer up a set of unattributed responses to Fischli & Weiss’ questions, which they have formulated during the final months of their postgraduate studies. Taken together, these cryptic statements may be understood as a collective portrait of a group of emerging artists who have spent a crucial period of their development in each other’s company:
