Artists and writers with a penchant for Swedish vodka will be delighted to learn about the new format for the Absolut Art Award. In 2013, the award will be split into two categories – one for artists and one for writers. In the art work category, the winner will bag €20,000 plus a budget of up to €100,000 to produce a new piece of art while the art writing category also has a €20,000 prize, plus €25,000 for printing and distributing a new publication. The best part? Both winners get a lifetime supply of Absolut vodka. (Just how much vodka is that?!) The selection process starts this October, so now’s the time to start cosying up to the jury president Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, who is also artistic director of Documenta (13).
