‘Following on from the success of last year’s ‘The House of the Nobleman’ art exhibition, curator Victoria Golembiovskaya is pleased to announce her second installment in the series, ‘The Return’, opening 14th-23rd October 2011 at Boswall House, a magnificent 15,000sqft Grade I listed Regency mansion at 2 Cornwall Terrace, overlooking Regent’s Park and the nearby activity of Frieze Art Fair.

One of the largest and most significant privately sponsored art exhibitions held during the Frieze Art Fair, ‘The Return’ explores ideas of the sacred in art, design and contemporary thought, exhibiting rare and previously unseen works from the most prestigious international collections alongside today’s most notable artists and designers. Francis Bacon, Salvador Dali, Zaha Hadid, Damien Hirst, Claude Monet and Yves Klein are just a few amongst the many represented.

‘The Return’ asks how art can be viewed if the “theological turn” is acknowledged within and parallel to post-modern practice and as an experience beyond pure aesthetic appreciation. The juxtaposition of works spanning different historical periods and mediums explores religious narratives of revival, rebirth and return as well as related topics of landscape, travel and time. Each of the exhibition rooms is dedicated to a varying topic where visitors can have an intimate viewing experience with a range of works across the mediums of painting, photography, mixed media, video, sculpture and design.

Complimenting this year’s exhibition, The House of Nobleman and Kenny Schachter are pleased to announce a special installation by architect Zaha Hadid as a continuation of Hadid’s research and exploration into the dialogue of material geometry. Always questioning the restrictions imposed by an orthogonal arrangement, the total fluidity of her work continues to push the boundaries of architecture and design.

House of the Nobleman is also pleased to present the first Vertu Global Art Commission, ‘Hold the Line’, a video and sculptural work by the artist Richard Wilson that transforms Vertu phone parts and functions into a series of performing sculptures. Presenting phone parts as they have never been seen before, the artist explains, ‘Because a mobile phone has no history as a musical instrument it allowed me freedom to pull sounds out of the object, exploiting the properties of those material through visual and filmic techniques.’ The transformation is typical of Wilson’s gift of transporting an object, however large or small, into a magical realm that reminds just how exciting and provocative art can be.

Continuing The House of the Nobleman’s collaboration with luxury property developers Oakmayne Bespoke, Boswall House will be temporarily transformed into London’s most spectacular art venue. As part of that vision, an exclusive club area will be open during the Frieze Art Fair, skillfully combining art and the visions of world renowned designers, chefs and drinks brands.

Visitors are able to enjoy the multiple lounge areas designed by Carrie Livingston. An internationally renowned interior designer based in Los Angeles, Carrie has worked with the likes of Roman Abramovich and Ralph Lauren with projects in Sardinia, Moscow, London and Beverly Hills currently on the go. Known for both using and designing highly sculptural furniture, sourcing unusual art and objects, Carrie creates colorful, highly original spaces that nevertheless contain an essence of warmth, whimsy and accessibility.

Guests will also be able to enjoy the culinary delights of famed chef Anna Hansen of The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell, whose culinary philosophy is driven by the desire to please and excite the palate by renewing everyday cooking with modern ingredients and global inspiration. A short breakfast and lunch menu will be available throughout the day in the lounge areas and alongside drinks in the Nobleman bar overlooking Regent’s Park, 10am-7pm 14th-23rd October 2011.
