Hoa Dung Clerget creates work that unfolds through painting, installation and material experimentation, guided by an interest in memory, inheritance and the quiet tension between fragility and resilience. Drawing on personal history and cross-cultural references, her practice often weaves together organic forms, domestic motifs and subtle symbolic gestures, allowing images to emerge slowly rather than assert themselves.
Clerget’s surfaces are layered and attentive. Colour, texture and mark-making operate as emotional registers, creating spaces that feel intimate and contemplative. There is a sense of care embedded in the work—materials handled with restraint, compositions left open enough to breathe—inviting viewers into a mode of close, patient looking.
Rooted in process and sensitivity to material, Clerget’s practice treats making as a form of reflection. Her works hover between presence and absence, holding traces of lived experience while remaining deliberately unresolved, offering images that feel held, thoughtful and quietly resonant.
