ART LAB BRUSSELS presents David Mileikowsky, De Profundis.

ART LAB BRUSSELS presents David Mileikowsky, De Profundis curated by Ann Veronica Janssens. De profundis is not only an exploration of a series of paintings, but also a journey into the depths of our feelings, thoughts, unique sensitivities and hidden processes that all too rarely come to the surface. It has nothing to do with any understanding of truth or philosophy; it is simply an exploration of the labyrinths of our minds through our transgenerational and intimate stories.

The attempt here is to take us by the hand with colours, ox liver, varnish, coloured glaze, various types of wax, crumpled cigarette paper under the watchful eye of the god Fire, who reveals hidden nuances. It is therefore an invitation to follow a path already mapped out through our feelings and our intimate and cultural transgenerational stories.

Like a chef or a musician, our strange demiurge uses the four fundamental elements (natural pigments/coloured water/wood fire/pulsed air) to better serve us. From the pigments, sometimes used cold and raw, he creates a kind of tragicomic opera of nocturnal dreams and purified nightmares that sparkle enchantingly in the moonlight.
