Andrew Weatherall’s extraordinary influence on music and club culture is celebrated in a major new hardback publication, A Disco Pogo Tribute To Andrew Weatherall, bringing together more than 320 pages of essays, interviews, photography and oral histories dedicated to the late DJ, producer and cultural icon.
Published by Disco Pogo, the book is the fourth title in the magazine’s acclaimed Tribute series, following volumes dedicated to Daft Punk, Aphex Twin and LCD Soundsystem. It also serves as the long-awaited successor to the sold-out Jockey Slut Tribute To Andrew Weatherall, originally published in 2020.
Produced with the full cooperation and approval of the Andrew Weatherall estate, which will also receive a share of the profits, the new edition combines the best material from the original publication with more than 200 pages of new writing, photography, interviews and oral histories.
Bringing together contributions from musicians, producers, DJs, photographers, designers and longtime collaborators, the book paints a richly detailed portrait of Weatherall’s extraordinary career and enduring influence on contemporary music and club culture.
Among the highlights are a new interview with Bobby Gillespie exploring their work beyond Screamadelica, alongside essays examining landmark projects including The Sabres of Paradise, Two Lone Swordsmen, The Asphodells, Sabresonic, Haunted Dancehall and Weatherall’s extensive remix work.
The book also revisits some of the communities and spaces that defined Weatherall’s later career, including his much-loved A Love From Outer Space club night and the Convenanza festival, while celebrating his visual artwork, NTS Radio broadcasts and singular creative philosophy.
New interviews feature an impressive cast of friends, collaborators and admirers including Keith Tenniswood, David Holmes, Jagz Kooner, Leftfield, Shaun Ryder, The Chemical Brothers, Beth Orton, Irvine Welsh, Daniel Avery, HAAi, Steve Mason, Richard Fearless and many more.
As with previous titles in the series, the book also includes an expanded discography, family tree, career timeline and an in-depth look at the equipment and studio techniques behind Weatherall’s productions.
