Gathering now represents Soojin Kang

Gathering has announced the representation of South Korean artist Soojin Kang.

Using natural dyes and hand-spun yarns, Kang experiments with the evocative power of fibre to entangle the organic and the bodily with something other-than-natural.

Soojin was one of the first artists I had the pleasure of working with at my project space UNIT9 in 2016. Our meaningful collaboration led to the first institutional acquisition of my career as a gallerist, ‘Fall’ (2016) resides in the permanent collection of the V&A. These last 8 years, Soojin and my professional paths separated, but our deep friendship and loyalty to one another never wavered. From the first encounter of her quiet, lyrical and poetic practice I was struck by the similarities to the great late Ruth Asawa. Some artists significant contribution to our world is only truly understood with a regretful delay. We will endeavour to make sure this is not the case with Soojin.

Over her first solo exhibition at Gathering London in 2023, a solo art fair presentation at MiArt 2024, we are pleased to announce an oversees gallery solo in the autumn of 2025. I am delighted that Soojin will be joining the gallery, continuing to build out our high quality international roster and look forward to a committed long term journey with her.
