‘MORE THAN NOW’: searching for psychological safety behind a curtain of parachutes, curated by Lisa Boudet.

‘MORE THAN NOW’ is a group exhibition at Moosey’s Hoxton gallery showcasing 25 international emerging artists, curated by Lisa Boudet. The work is found within a massive installation of parachutes, symbolising a safe landing – a space for artistic expression and experimentation.

Who truly has our best interests at heart? It’s a question we all must ask ourselves when we become vulnerable. Artists open themselves in order to create, but the industry often rewards us with judgement or worse… This show is a celebration of vulnerability, of psychological safety.

Taking off.

For anybody who ever felt hesitant to experiment or to be themselves, ‘MORE THAN NOW’ welcomes you. 25 artists will explore the concept of psychological safety through diverse perspectives and mediums, taking off the shackles of judgement and letting their creativity take flight.

I think historically and factually Black joy and the willingness to depict emotions and activities adjacent to that is the most dangerous and consequential concept on the planet.  Even the nebulous idea of hope falls under that umbrella as well, and because of that, my choice of layering and remixing three distinct extensions of Black joy and resiliency fits perfectly in this show.

Moosey Gallery worked closely with curator Lisa Boudet, a long-time champion of new creative talent, ‘MORE THAN NOW’ encourages these 25 artists to go beyond their boundaries and embrace the risks and challenges that entails.

Safe landing.

Moosey’s expansive Hoxton gallery will see parachutes fill the space. A recent safe arrival after a challenging campaign for creativity. Much like theatre curtains, they remind us of the two identities we carry at all times: one for the audience, and one behind-the-scenes.

I often use still lifes as allegories for the female experience, as historically still lifes were deemed one of the few “appropriate” subject matters for women to paint. [… Is there truly any safe time to be authentic as a woman when that authenticity directly opposes the status quo?

– Meghann Stephenson, Artist

Sheltered beneath the canopy of parachutes, attendees at Moosey Hoxton are invited to pass through this curtain and experience the bold and diverse work of these 25 emerging artists in an environment free from judgement or industry censorship. Within a space of ‘psychological safety’, these two faces may become one.

Exhibited artists: Amber Larks, Emily Yong Beck, Meghann Stephenson, Maria Szakats, Charline Tyberghein, Hamish Chapman, Masha Morgunova, Annie Duncan, Judit Kristensen, Ally Rae, Laura Watters, Youngmin Park, Martin Herold, Alex Long, Olivier Lepront, Pieter Ceizer, Filippo Moroni, Gongmo Zhou, Royal Jarmon, Thomas Martinez Pilnik, Christian Ulloa, Sebastien Alouf, Nick Fusaro, Alex Hanna and Bradley Ward.
