Presented by The Nice Co at Noho Showrooms, Be Nice is an inaugural charity exhibition that brings together renowned international names and up-and-coming artists for a Christmas cause in the capital. From 13th December, newly commissioned artworks will be on show and available to purchase alongside existing pieces by artists such as Chris Levine, Rob & Nick Carter, Anthony Burrill, Jo Hummel, Jelly Green, Nick Smith, David Shillinglaw, Cat Spilman, Ces Mccully, Boo Saville, Ian Rayer-Smith,
Jonathan Lawes, Charlotte Rose, Jason Tessier, Robi Walters, Ant Carver and Lily Mixe. With a diverse cross-section of styles and mediums Be Nice features a wide range of accessible artwork with pieces for the novice to more seasoned collectors.

The exhibition has been brought to life by The Nice Co. in partnership with The Childhood Trust, London’s leading child poverty charity, dedicated to alleviating the impact of poverty on children and young people living in the capital. The exhibition aims to raise over £50,000 as part of The Childhood Trust’s Christmas campaign and all profits from artwork sales from Be Nice will be distributed to six grassrooted London charities – Bow Food Bank, City Gateway, Little Village, The Dalgarno Trust, The Harrow Club and Up ’N Away; directly impacting the lives of over 3,500 people.

Compounded by the cost of living crisis, London’s most vulnerable children and young adults are in crisis with 37% of children in London living in poverty, and 2 in 5 school-aged children regularly missing meals, as families have no choice but to pay for bills over food.

Original artworks and limited edition prints are available with prices ranging from prints at £80 to £10,000+ for larger scale original art works. Exclusively available The Nice Co merchandise ensures the creative showcase has something for everyone, including a wide range of Christmas gifts.

For each individual artwork sold, the buyer will be shown what impact the art sale has for on the chosen charity, for example, if artwork sales reach £8,000, The Dalgarno Trust Foodbank can distribute over 300 bags of food per week throughout 2024 plus hot, healthy meals to the 60 children who attend their holiday camps.

About

The Nice Co is a fundraising business founded by Marc Duvivier and Sophie Matthews, designed to raise money for some of the most disadvantaged children and families in London. Disillusioned by the news agenda and aware how many families in the UK are struggling to make ends meet, The Nice Co. was created as a platform to make a positive impact on the people who need it most.

The Childhood Trust believes that every child should have a healthy, happy and safe childhood so that all children are well prepared for life, breaking the cycle of poverty. The cost-of-living crisis is having a devastating impact on children living in poverty. We are facing a growing crisis. 700,000 (33%) of children are living in poverty in London. Our most recent research found that the equivalent of 40% of London children are regularly missing meals and going hungry due to the cost-of-living crisis. Our most vulnerable children are now facing life-changing, life-limiting deep poverty rather than significant hardship. Since 2013, The Childhood Trust’s campaigns have raised £37,000,000 to support the delivery of over 900 charitable projects working with disadvantaged children and young people across all of London’s 32 boroughs and the City.

Be Nice. EXHIBITION CHARITY BENEFICIARIES

Bow Foodbank is a charity that exists to provide food and emergency items to people in crisis in Tower Hamlets. Our approach is welcoming and friendly, offering our clients dignity and understanding within a non-judgmental environment. Bow Foodbank is a local Tower Hamlets charity that operates two foodbanks, one in Bow and the other in Bethnal Green. We provide emergency food supplies to those who are in crisis due to financial difficulties.

City Gateway is a registered educational charity established in 1999 by a group of City workers deeply concerned about the prevailing inequality within the community. Their vision was to bridge the gap between London’s financial centre and some of its most economically disadvantaged communities. Our headquarters are situated in Tower Hamlets, an area where we strive to transform marginalised communities by improving the life chances of young people. We do this through a comprehensive approach that combines education and training pathways, one-to-one coaching, and mentoring.

Little Village supports families with babies and children under five living in poverty across London. We run a baby bank network, collecting, sorting and passing on pre-loved clothes and equipment. Parents are also supported by our dedicated signposting and guidance team, who offer advice and links to other services. In addition, we work with families to share their stories and campaign to fix the systems that trap them in poverty. We are based in London, with hubs in Camden, Wandsworth, Brent, Hackney and Hounslow. Since we launched in 2016, Little Village has supported more than 24,000 children under 5.

The Dalgarno Trust is a community centre for people in North Kensington. We provide a safe, happy place to come for everyone in our local community, and we run projects and services promoting health, wellbeing and inclusion. Whether you are 9 weeks or 90 years old, we run an activity for you. We work in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea delivering core services and our youth programme. We are proud to be a part of the Health Partners Programme with other community, voluntary, faith groups and residents associations working in the community of North Kensington, brought together by NHS West London Clinical Commissioning Group.

The Harrow Club has been creating positive futures for marginalised young people in West London since 1883. Through general youth clubs and specialist interventions, we aim to empower young people to complete their education, avoid anti-social behaviour and become positive contributors to society. We work with up to 500 young people each week across 6 clubs, helping them to recognise their full potential. The Harrow Club is a community-based youth organisation offering innovative, accessible and high-quality opportunities, enabling young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to maximise their life chances.

Up ‘N Away targets young people who are too poor to be able to experience any interesting or healthy activities in the long summer break. They live in overcrowded inner-city Hackney, the 2nd most deprived area in England.
