The 5th edition of Lisbon Art Weekend opens

From November 9th to 12th, Lisbon will host the 5th edition of Lisbon Art Weekend, featuring over 250 artists and 30 participant spaces.

Galleries, museums, ateliers, public projects, and private collections in Lisbon are opening their doors to the public, offering new exhibitions, talks, finissages, and concerts – all with free admission. This event is a celebration of contemporary art, featuring a diverse range of national and international artists, both established and emerging talents, engaging in a dialogue across various forms. This exciting artistic showcase is part of the 5th edition of Lisbon Art Weekend (LAW), scheduled to take place from November 9 to 12.

Participants of the upcoming edition include 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, Appleton, Atelier Concorde, Balcony Gallery, Casa da Liberdade – Mário Cesariny and Perve Galeria, Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, Dialogue Gallery, Document, Duplex, Eritage Art Projects, Fábrica das Águas, Galeria 111, Galeria Bruno Múrias, Galeria Diferença, Galeria Filomena Soares, Galeria Foco, Galeria Francisco Fino, Galeria Miguel Nabinho, Galeria Nave, Galeria Vera Cortês, Hangar Centro de Investigação Artística, Jahn und Jahn, Kunsthalle Lissabon, La Junqueira Artists Residency, Madragoa, Monitor Lisbon, mono, Movart, No-No Gallery, NowHere, Underdogs Gallery and Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea. Select exhibitions offer visitors the exclusive opportunity to be personally guided through the displayed works by the artists themselves or expert curators.

Throughout the four days of the extended weekend, guided tours by Cervezas Alhambra will provide visitors with fresh perspectives on the contemporary art scene across various parts of the city, all available with advance booking. LAW is also welcoming a new feature: the Art Prize, supported by Idealista, the real estate and business website, and RedCollectors, which is a pioneering art consultancy. The primary objective of this initiative is to acquire an artwork that will become part of Idealista’s collection, with expert guidance from RedCollectors. Additionally, the two companies are also collaborating on recording each LAW exhibition in 3D, increasing the event’s accessibility.

Lisbon Art Weekend is a non-profit initiative by Merve Pakyürek and Marc Kean Paker. Born in Turkey, Merve has a degree in Creative Industries and has worked in public and private organizations. Marc, French-Turkish, was a translator, specializing in art and philosophy, and currently runs an investment company. Regulars at cultural events all over Europe, when they moved to Lisbon seven years ago, they saw an opportunity to create a format that would accompany the growth of the city’s contemporary art scene. The first edition took place in 2019 and has since earned its place on the Portuguese capital’s cultural calendar.
