FVCKRENDER takes over entire block of London’s Oxford Street for debut solo show

FVCKRENDER is taking over an entire block of London’s iconic Oxford Street throughout August, creating a mesmerising, three-storey video exhibition that pushes at the boundaries of what traditional public art can be.

FVCKRENDER, is partnering with public art platform W1 Curates to stage his debut solo show outside his native Canada. Catch the Light is an immersive and meditative audio-visual experience documenting the artist’s personal journey overcoming the challenges of depression and anxiety.

FCKRENDER is one of the world’s most prolific digital artists, having created almost 3,000 painstakingly rendered artworks on a daily basis over the last 8 years. His work has attracted a number of high-profile collaborations, from Dior and Swarovski to Lil Nas X, The Weeknd and Lebron James.

Alongside a retrospective of his work inside the W1 Curates digital gallery space, FVCKRENDER has carefully curated a stunning selection of pieces that will be displayed 24/7 on a sweeping 60m x 30m stretch of LED screens across Oxford Street itself, creating a futuristic and ever-changing video mural that highlights how digital techniques are creating a new frontier in public art.

In this highly personal show, FVCKRENDER reflects on how he initially turned to the digital canvas as a form of self-therapy, teaching himself to use 3D art software during breaks at his restaurant job as a way of battling crippling panic attacks and ongoing depression.

Throughout the venue, FVCKRENDER’s crystalline, futuristic and hyper-idealised 3D imagery has been carefully choreographed against an ambient soundtrack by composer The Holy, creating a meditative atmosphere that aims to inspire viewers to pursue better mental comfort and wellbeing.

This show is a visual diary of my battle and victory over depression and anxiety, but I also want it to be a beacon of hope, inspiring viewers to persist in their fight, catch their own light, and find their path towards mental comfort.
