Designer Paul Timmer has invented a wooden bicycle where all non-wooden parts (except the wheels and tires) can be 3D printed out of aluminum.
The bike is light, weighing in at 11 kilograms (24.2 pounds). Also as the bike is made from wood and 3D-printable materials it is recyclable.
The one-speed bike will come as a collection of hand-crafted, precision-milled solid ash pieces, along with 3D-printing files for the remaining parts. Owners print the parts, then assemble the cycle, including a fork (the part that connects the handlebars to the front wheel) designed from the ground up to take advantage of the wooden material’s greater ability to absorb shock.
