Kostüme have launched their third limited edition artist collection with Remi Rough. Collaborating with a brand I love is one thing. Seeing my work on products that have fitness, wellbeing and sustainability at their core is altogether another.’

Featuring a raft of fit improvements, plus luxurious 100% recycled fabrics throughout the range, the 10-piece collection introduces a new lightweight long sleeve 6-pocket cargo jersey and base layer, designed for the unique demands of all-day riding. The brief read ‘everything but extreme conditions’ although that didn’t count for testing, with production samples excelling in everything from damp, single-digit early-season Brevets, to a downright chilly urban everesting attempt, whilst still coping admirably with shorter double-digit tempo rides.

I’ve been a fan of Remi’s since before I was even riding road bikes, so it’s a dream come true to work
together.

With our limited edition pre-order model, we’re not only offering riders the best, most creative and innovative apparel without the luxury price tag, we are also revolutionising how consumers engage with fashion, and what it means to be a responsible brand.

This is largely due to the exceptional all-round performance of the 100% recycled PET jersey and base layer fabrics, which use a lightweight waffle effect to trap air, wick sweat and also dries significantly faster than the equivalent Merino wool. Customers buying the matching jersey and base layer will benefit from an automatic 10% discount, with the new long sleeve jersey and base layer costing £145 and £60 respectively, whilst the updated short sleeve jersey and base layer have both received small price reductions at £125 and £40. The 5-panel cap and thermal neck warmer remain at £35 and £25.

About the artist

Remi Rough (b. 1971 in South London) makes complex abstract paintings on surfaces ranging from paper, wood, and canvas to brick and concrete. His formative years and experiences as a style writer (or as most people would know it, a graffiti artist) inform his precise, constructed artworks. His clever use of highly sensory colour evokes an array of different feelings for the viewer and can at times be perceived as musical due to the vibrational energy the work emits.

Remi’s transition from painting wildstyle graffiti letters to his now distinctive abstract language is documented in various publications including Mural XXL by Claudia Walde and Abstract Graffiti by Cedar Lewisohn. He is a key proponent in the graffuturism and post graffiti movements. In 2018 Remi was invited as part of the Art Basel Hong Kong off-site programme to design and install a permanent 100-metre-long pedestrian tunnel in Hong Kong’s Quarry Bay MTR station. He has also completed major mural commissions in Miami, Detroit, Singapore, London and Berlin.

Museum shows include The Museo De Bellas Artes in Santander in 2009, The Musée Mohammed VI in Rabat 2016, MOCA London in 2017, the Art Science Museum in Singapore in 2018, and Straat Museum in Amsterdam in 2022. In 2021 he was invited by the former Royal Academy professor of perspective, Humphrey Ocean RA, to exhibit in the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition, where his work was displayed directly above that of former President of the Royal Academy, Christopher Le Brun. In 2022, Remi also co-curated, and exhibited in Next Wave at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Indiana.
