About Sluice__
Sluice__ is an art initiative run by an artist (Karl England), a curator (Charlie Levine) and an educationalist (Ben Street). Sluice was formed as a provocation and foregrounds criticality as a central concern. Sluice strategically adopts structures in order to showcase artist, curator and emergent discourse, projects and galleries. Since its inception in 2011, Sluice’s emphasis has been on open and collaborative practice, with a strong program of education, performance and publishing. Sluice is a critical platform which takes on different guises—including that of a biennial art fair—to investigate the very nature of art and commerce. Prior to The Hospital Club residency Sluice__, in collaboration with Theodore:Art and Centotto gallery, co-produced an expo in Brooklyn, New York, the highly successful inaugural Exchange Rates, The International Bushwick Expo.
