Spontaneous Combustion is a yearly festival of dance and performance supported by arebyte gallery. On its 4th year, the festival features two days of performances, a two-week residency programme and a series of workshops open to the public.

On the 19 and 20 of July, performances will take audiences on a journey from arebyte gallery to explore the surrounding area of Hackney Wick. The festival offers artists working across contemporary dance, theatre and performance art an opportunity to relocate current or recent work in unusual spaces including private courtyards, car park and street corners.

Users of Android mobile devices will also be able to download the festival app, which will coordinate videos, sounds and graphics to the live performances. Rather than a navigation tool, this app is product of an artistic collaboration amongst five national and international artists and artists collectives currently resident at arebyte gallery; Hackney Wick-based Cluster Bomb Collective, choreographer Rebecca Evans and the Brazialian artist Coletivo Curto-Circuito amongst others.

A series of workshops will be held during 19-20 of July at Idea Store Library in Bow. The workshops offer a taste of working creatively with movement, dance and art practices to audiences of all ages. All activities are free and open to all.
