Vinyl Revival by Laurence Poole
An assemblage sculpture created from over 100 LPs and 12” records, arranged to represent a digital waveform.
Laurence was born in London in 1963. He now lives and works in Hastings, East Sussex, England. Laurence studied at Croydon College of Art and Chelsea College of Art & Design.
Laurence’s career spans photography, interior & lighting design, product design, graphics, painting and sculpture. His furniture design includes the outrageous and spectacular ‘360 Gullwing’ spinning chaise longue featured on these pages. As well as developing designs by hand, Laurence utilises the latest in 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design software. He is also an accomplished modelmaker, regarding scale models as a crucial phase in prototype and ideas’ development.
Laurence often uses ‘found’ objects’ in his sculptures, including everyday products such as postage stamps, toy cars and vintage film cameras – items that evoke a certain nostalgia. Each sculpture is unique, featuring a mixture of unusual, colourful and charming artefacts.
