Free Range Announces its first Art Awards Five artists handpicked by panel of industry leaders Supported by King & McGaw and CultureLabel.com

Anna Taylor – Grandad – Barking College

Free Range announces the inaugural Free Range Art Awards, marking its 10th year in residence at the Old Truman Brewery.

Out of all 2010’s fantastic participants, the Award Panel of leading industry figures has carefully selected five of the UK’s brightest talents as winners of the exciting award.

This year, the judging panel includes Kathleen Soriano, Director of Exhibitions at the Royal Academy, Peter Tullin, co-founder of CultureLabel.com, curator, gallerist and art writer Justin Hammond, Gyr King from King & McGaw, and Tamsin O’Hanlon, director and the founder of Free Range.

The winners, chosen by the notable panel, are Ben Raynor, Chris Mear, Robert Attard, Anna Taylor and Nicola Thompson. The diverse selection, embracing Ben Raynor’s humorous mixed media drawing Albert alongside Anna Taylor’s subtly emotive photograph Grandad, demonstrates Free Range at its best. The set is complimented in equal measure by Robert Attard’s stunningly bold portrait, Chris Mear’s colourful perspective and Nicola Thompson’s atmospheric photograph.

As part of Free Range’s ongoing support of new graduate artists and designers, the Free Range Award will give these best new stars in art and photography the extra lift towards launching their careers. Each selected work will be produced as a print in a limited edition of 25, giving the artists the opportunity to sell their work while at the same
time gaining invaluable expert advice and PR support.
The exclusive limited edition prints of work by the five winners will be available to buy at Free Range 2010 and also online at

www.culturelabel.com from 3rd June.
