Slawn creates inaugural artwork for Drip Curates

Big Zuu has introduced Drip, his new British canned natural mineral water, onto the UK art scene with the launch of Drip Curates The art series, which celebrates diversity in creativity and culture, launched with an exclusive, never-before-seen commission from celebrated artist Slawn.

Unveiled at the Drip Curates launch event this week, Slawn’s commission is now displayed in Brighton’s Helm Gallery as a legacy piece to mark the series’ first creation. Inspired by Zuu’s roots and supported heavily by him, the ongoing series will focus on Drip’s involvement in creativity and culture to celebrate and spotlight British artistic development across fashion, music, the arts and culture.

Zuu commented:

I have a lot of respect for Slawn and his creations. He has made a serious impact on the art world and as a grassroots artist I have a lot of time for that. I wanted Slawn to be the artist to launch ‘Drip Curates’ and help elevate our presence and relevance across different creative outputs.

Drip is first and foremost a lifestyle brand, so we wanted to find a way to celebrate the brand’s identity and cultural background. I’m excited about making waves in this space – it always feels good to come together with other creative minds and make new and exciting art.

Drip Curates is one of several high-profile lifestyle initiatives that Drip will be announcing throughout 2024. The activations all form part of Drip’s mission to transform the way we drink water – encouraging people to ditch the plastic and embrace alternative ways of staying hydrated.

About

The work of London-based Nigerian artist Slawn (b.2000 in Lagos, Nigeria) pendulates between street art and abstract expressionism while exploring pertinent issues of politics, race, and identity. At 23 years old, Slawn stands as a cult icon, celebrated not just for his art but also as a street artist and skateboarder, esteemed by figures like Virgil Abloh and Skepta. His acclaim arises from an artistic signature that manipulates reality on large-scale canvases, intertwining cartoonish-like pop figures, bold, colourful forms, and stylish shapes defined with vivid hues that beckon the viewer. At first, seemingly playful and a descendant of street art, it is upon closer inspection that we see the intense human element that Slawn endows to each work, where he explores human psychology, politics, race, and other complex topics and issues still challenging society.

Founded in 2023 by grime artist and television personality Big Zuu, a disruptor in the water market, Drip natural mineral water is of the highest quality and untouched from source. It’s naturally filtered and enriched with minerals from deep within England’s South Downs at the first ‘filled at source’ 500ml water canning facility in the UK.

Drip uses infinitely recyclable aluminium cans, in its mission to stop the use of single use plastic bottles. Born from the London grime scene but with mass market appeal, Drip’s is the first true lifestyle water brand to ever launch in the UK. Drip’s creative direction and inspiration has been developed from Big Zuu’s cultural and musical roots.thedrip.vip
