Made to measure is a solo exhibition of Colombian artist Mateo Lopez which takes place over two venues, Camberwell Space and Gasworks.
At Camberwell Space, the exhibition is infused by the participatory ethos of drawing workshops. Lopez invites visitors to carry out drawing exercises and make three-dimensional paper objects following a set of instructions. The artist’s objective is to facilitate collaborative production and the sharing of skills and ideas, where each drawing exercise creates a form of feedback for future workshops, while the constructed objects come to populate the exhibition’s space.
Also part of the exhibition are two large vinyl drawings that continue the artist’s interest in drawing as a means to articulating ideas, visualising concepts and tracing thought processes.
Mateo Lopez’s exhibition at Camberwell Space is the result of a partnership between Gasworks Residency Programme and TrAIN. This project continues to link Gasworks’ commitment to supporting and exhibiting international emerging art practices with TrAIN’s interest in providing a theoretical framework for art making in an international residency situation. This show is curated by Anna Colin (Exhibitions Curator, Gasworks) and Catalina Lozano (Residencies Coordinator, Gasworks).
