FAULT: studies in survival brings together 21 artists whose work considers what it means to endure — not survival as a dramatic single event, but as something shaped by pressure, repetition, fatigue, uncertainty and the continual necessity to adapt.
Moving across painting, sculpture, installation, sound and expanded practices, the group exhibition looks at how survival can become embedded within materials, processes and gestures themselves. Rather than proposing a single response, FAULT considers endurance as physical, psychological and environmental: something accumulated, negotiated and repeatedly tested.
The exhibition features work by b A abike, Karl Bielik, Fiona Campbell, Theo Chaudoir, Gail Corrie, Vincent Hawkins, Andrew Graves, Geoffrey Howe, Mandy Leonard, Jo Martin, Iris McConnell, Kate McDonnell, Lou Mumford, Toshiki Ohta, Monica Perez, Steve Pettengell, Dean Piacentini, Abi Joy Samuel, Alexandra Searle, Daniel Streeter and Harry Whitelock.
Together, their practices explore different states of vulnerability and resilience, asking what materials, bodies and systems reveal when subjected to sustained pressure — and how making itself might operate as a form of persistence.
For the Private View, London-based Anglo-Japanese DJ, broadcaster and curator Toshiki Ohta will extend the exhibition into sound, presenting a specially curated sonic response created directly in dialogue with the works on display.
