After two years of staging exhibitions in private homes, historic hotels and artist-led spaces across London, New York and Europe, Refusés is opening its first permanent gallery in Park Royal.
Opening on 8th October 2026, the new space at Queensrollahouse marks a significant milestone for the experimental gallery, providing a permanent base while maintaining the site-responsive, artist-led approach that has defined its programme since launching in 2024. Rather than signalling an end to its nomadic model, the new venue will allow Refusés to develop longer-running exhibitions, expand its public programme and continue presenting projects internationally.
Located within Queensrollahouse—a former 1950s Rolls-Royce factory transformed by artist Henry Krokatsis into a creative hub of studios, exhibition spaces and a rooftop bar—the gallery joins a growing community of artists and makers in one of West London’s emerging cultural destinations.
The inaugural exhibition, opening to coincide with Frieze London, is a solo presentation by British artist Elspeth Vince. Running from 8th October to 20th December 2026, the exhibition extends Vince’s painterly language into the architecture of the gallery itself, using amber lighting, textile interventions and mirrored thresholds to create an immersive environment where painting and space become inseparable.
Since its founding, Refusés has built a reputation for rejecting the neutrality of the white cube, instead treating architecture as an active participant in the exhibition experience. Previous projects have unfolded across private homes, historic hotels and temporary venues in London, New York, Madrid and Portofino, with each exhibition shaped by the character of its surroundings rather than a fixed institutional model.
The move to Park Royal also enables Refusés to expand its public programme. Alongside exhibitions, the gallery plans to host talks, screenings, gatherings and collaborations with universities and film festivals, creating a space designed to welcome audiences regardless of their familiarity with contemporary art.
Founders Athina Sanvido and Juliette Miller said the gallery has always sought to create exhibitions that feel welcoming rather than intimidating.
“We never wanted to build a gallery that people felt intimidated to enter. Refusés was founded around the idea that exhibitions should feel open, generous and shaped by the places they inhabit. Queensrollahouse gives us a permanent home without losing the curiosity, experimentation and freedom that have defined us from the beginning.”
Alongside its London programme, Refusés will continue presenting projects internationally, including a concurrent presentation by Auudi Dorsey at Untitled Houston, reinforcing its commitment to operating across multiple geographies while remaining rooted in London.
