KYKLOS – Centre for Arts and Cultures has appointed curator and writer Kostas Stasinopoulos as its new Director of Exhibitions and Programmes, effective April 2026. He will join Founders Dinos and Lia Martinos and Executive Director Christos Carras in shaping the institution’s curatorial vision ahead of its opening in Piraeus in late 2028.

Kostas Stasinopoulos, Director of Exhibitions and Programmes:

“It is a great honour to take on this role, and I am thankful to the Founders, Dinos and Lia Martinos, and Executive Director Christos Carras for their trust. After 22 years in London, this is exactly the kind of opportunity that could have drawn me back to Greece. I look forward to working together to shape KYKLOS as an international cultural destination and a new institution with a dynamic programme open to all. I am especially pleased to be returning to Athens and to contribute in a meaningful way to the city’s cultural life”.

In the role, Stasinopoulos will lead the development of KYKLOS’s exhibition programme, collection displays and new commissions, while also establishing live events, research initiatives and educational platforms for the new cultural centre.

Stasinopoulos is currently Curator of Live Programmes at Serpentine in London, where he oversees the gallery’s interdisciplinary programme across performance, moving image, talks and experimental formats. Since first joining Serpentine in 2009, he has worked on a range of major public projects including the Serpentine Marathons, Park Nights, Back to Earth and General Ecology. In 2023 he launched the institution’s annual choreographic commission and most recently co-curated Sound Service, the live programme developed alongside Peter Doig’s exhibition House of Music at Serpentine South.

Alongside his work in London, Stasinopoulos previously served as Associate Curator at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. His collaborations span organisations including Whitechapel Gallery, White Cube, Frieze London, Sadler’s Wells, Onassis AiR, the Benaki Museum, the DESTE Foundation, Art Athina and the Athens Biennale. He is also currently curating the exhibition and live programme for the second edition of VIMA Art Fair in Limassol, Cyprus, opening in May 2026.

As a writer and editor, Stasinopoulos has contributed widely to contemporary art discourse and co-edited 140 Artists’ Ideas for Planet Earth with Hans Ulrich Obrist (Penguin, 2021–2022). His academic background spans art history and cultural studies, including a PhD in History of Art from the University of York, an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art, an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries from King’s College London, and a BSc in Biochemistry with Management from Imperial College London.
