Sterling Ruby creates Clog for OTW by Vans.

We love the Clog, created by Sterling RubyS.R. Studio LA. CA. for OTW by Vans, a sculptural piece of footwear that merges two shoes into one.

Built on a two-part system, the design pairs a closed outer shell with a removable inner mule, allowing the inside shoe to be worn independently. A wide rear opening makes for easy step-in access, eliminating the need for straps or laces, while a circular button at the side connects the two parts and highlights the collaboration between Vans and the American artist. Unlike traditional shoes this Clog uses a unified slip-on structure with no separate upper or sole, combining an enclosed front with an open top.

Ruby reimagines the classic wooden clog, bringing modern comfort and a surprising dual function: a second, minimal, Japanese-style shoe that pops out of the larger form. Details include a breathable bottom window, a silver branded button, and a lightweight cushioned foam insole for comfort without extra weight. Designed for both the purist and the maximalist within us, S.R. Studio LA. CA. elevates an everyday object with bold structure, layered meaning, and sculptural complexity.
