In April 2022, former photographer and stylist Hew Hood launched the Hew Hood Gallery. Renowned for his two-decade long work with titles such as Esquire, The Telegraph and Sunday Times Style. Over the course of his two-decade tenure in the fashion industry, Hew Hood has cultivated a discerning eye for artistic expression, thanks to his exposure to various forms of creativity. This creative sensibility laid the ground work for his seamless transition into the art world.
In Its brief existence Hew Hood Gallery has swiftly earned a reputation for being a curator of the next generation of acclaimed artists. As Ocula advisory wrote, the gallery is “a good place to start for artist introductions” having shown in demand emerging artists such as Hettie Inniss, Zearo and Georg Wilson.
Amid the recent downturn in the art market, many emerging galleries in London and New York have been forced to close their doors. However, Hew Hood Gallery has taken this moment as an opportunity to grow. Embracing change, the gallery is relocating from its original space in Islington to a larger venue at 53 Wentworth Street E1 7TD. This strategic move places Hew Hood Gallery alongside esteemed neighbours like Union Pacific, Public Gallery, and Whitechapel Gallery, enhancing the visibility and opportunities for its exhibiting artists.
The new space will officially open on January 16th with an inaugural group exhibition ‘Nightfall’. Exhibiting emerging artists Shuangyi Li, Jonah Alexander, Rosa Sitting-Bell and Bertil Osorio.
