The Royal Society of Sculptors in partnership with Milwyn Casting Ltd present the 10gram Challenge – where 40 artists of international renown have been invited to create a sculpture from a 10-gram piece of wax. These unique mini masterpieces will be cast in bronze at The Milwyn Casting, Fine Art Foundry and are being presented in a selling exhibition at Thomas Dane Gallery, London on 23rd and 24th October.
All profits raised by the 10gram Challenge will go towards Creating a Home For Sculptors, a campaign to support the urgent renovation of Dora House, the unique Grade II listed home of the Society in London, as well as the creation of much-needed additional studio and community workshop spaces on site.
The participating artists are: Rana Begum, Clare Burnett, Christopher le Brun, Sokari Douglas Camp, Ann Christopher, William Cobbing, Alexandre da Cunha, Richard Deacon, Laura Ford, Rachel Goodison, Antony Gormley, Nicola Hicks, Nick Hornby, Serena Korda, Michael Craig Martin, Polly Morgan, David Nash, Humphrey Ocean, Peter Randall Page, Vicken Parsons, Grayson Perry, Cathie Pilkington, Jacqueline Poncelet, Kathy Prendergast Bill Pye, Saad Qureshi, Nathaniel Rackowe, Frances Richardson, Andrew Sabin, Rebecca Salter, Tim Shaw, Amy Stephens, Richard Stone, Almuth Tebbenhoff, Bernar Venet, Alison Wilding, Daphne Wright, Richard Wilson and Bill Woodrow.

Now in its second iteration, the 10gram Challenge was devised by Alex Davies, Society member and Founder of The Milwyn Casting, Fine Art Foundry. Conceived during lockdown, the challenge Grayson Perry, Alan Measles. 10gram Challenge grew organically as a way for Society sculptors to create something on a smaller scale from the kitchen table, whilst also supporting the restoration campaign for Dora House.
In 2024, the 10gram Challenge has grown to encompass support from a stellar roster of international artists, now also including non-Society members such as Grayson Perry, Rana Begum, Anya Gallaccio, Alison Wilding and Richard Wilson.
From 11AM on 23rd October – 8PM on 24th October, all works from the 10gram Challenge will be
available to buy in person at Thomas Dane Gallery, London and thereafter from www.sculptors.org.uk
