Previewing this Thursday 1st February Swanfall Gallery presents Marie-Therese Heublein‘s solo exhibition TRANSFORM at their new collaborative space with VCLUB.
Marie-Therese Heublein is a London-based artist and designer. She works within and intersects the processes of oil painting, 3D animation and augmented reality. Born in 1997 in Erlangen, Germany, Marie-Therese obtained her BA in Communication Design at Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften München in 2021 while also being introduced to a multitude of art forms at the atelier of costume and stage designer Mihail Tchernaev from 2012 – 2021. She then moved to London to earn her MA in Fine Art Painting with Distinction at the University of the Arts London, Camberwell in 2022. During her studies she was awarded with the Research Prize by the College to highlight her intensive and informed writing on the themes that shape her artistic practice.
Transformation and reinvention are central themes in Heublein’s practice. Utilising a blend of physical sketches, digital interventions, 3D renderings, and collages, she transmutes the body and consciousness into new forms, navigating between the physical and digital realms to capture the boundless possibilities of existence. In selected pieces, Heublein incorporates Augmented Reality (AR) in her works, seamlessly merging the virtual with the real, offering a novel artistic experience to the audience.
Her latest series in this exhibition continues to explore the aesthetics of change. Through varied sizes and multi-perspective compositions, as well as the interconnections between different works, Heublein presents a more subtle and profound narrative to the viewers. Echoing the concept from I Ching (The Book of Changes), the exhibition “Transform” interprets Heublein’s thematic focus and her journey of surpassing herself in artistic practice.
