WaterBear launch The Lab, a 3-day pop-up store to raise awareness of asylum seeker experiences in the UK.

The pop-up marks the launch of the new WaterBear Original short film, Matar, delving into the U.K.’s broken and unjust asylum policies as government hostility towards refugees intensifies.

Available to watch for free on WaterBear, the streaming platform dedicated to the future of the planet, the film was created by a team of award-winning filmmakers, behind the acclaimed film The Swimmers.

Featuring a wide array of events, exhibitions, film screenings and other activities, the pop-up will also feature Choose Love shop.

In addition, the pop-up will offer an opportunity for visitors to join the ‘Lift the ban’ campaign with Refugee Action and Choose Love, with access to pre-written letters to that can be signed and sent to their local MPs, instantly, asking them to lift the ban on asylum seekers working.

The challenges posed by current policies continue to put an immense strain on asylum seekers’ lives, with some living on just £5.84 per day as they wait multiple years for their asylum claim to be processed. Matar and the lift the ban campaign seeks to catalyse change and rally the government to lift the ban on employment.

The Lab, by Choose Love and WaterBear, 98 Berwick St, London, W1F 0QB, Friday 17th – Saturday 10-7pm. Sunday 12-6pm Reserve a spot
