A bit of California has touched down in London. “California Couture” Dior Men’s capsule collection guest designed by ERL has arrived at Dover Street Market with a special Ground Floor installation.
The collection presents classic house motifs infused with a pop sensibility and American archetypes, a slouching, easeful everyday feeling with precision of tailoring and mastery of fabric from the atelier. Kim Jones and Eli Russell Linnetz draw parallels between Venice and Paris, combining their vision with that of the predecessors who have been Artistic Directors of men’s and womenswear at Christian Dior.
We have worked with lots of different people on our collections, but this time I wanted to work with someone in a different way; I wanted somebody to see Dior from a different angle. With Eli Russell Linnetz, not only do I like his work but working with a younger designer on Dior Men and seeing things from his perspective felt incredibly inspiring. It was both familiar and revelatory; reaffirming why we both dreamed about working in fashion in the first place.
