How Introversion Affects Your Driving

Driving is a very big part of most people’s lives and it’s something that most of us do almost every day. However, did you know that the way we drive can reveal a lot about our personality? It can reveal whether you’re introverted or extroverted.

If you’re something of an introvert your driving could be different from that of an extrovert. Here’s how:

You’re Less Likely to be Involved in an Accident

Introverts are much more likely to be safer drivers. This is primarily because they’re less likely to talk on their phone while they drive. In addition to this, messing with those dials on the radio is a no-no. Introverts don’t like answering or making calls, so you’re unlikely to be distracted. When it comes to switching the radio on, you know what you like to listen to, so you’ll put it on when we first get in the car.

Getting back to the subject of accidents, introverts are unlikely to take many risks. You want that Mercedes extended warranty. You want your car to be 100% safe, you don’t want to change lanes very quickly. It’s just how you are, and you’re safer for it.

You Take it Slow and Steady

If you’re something of an introvert, you’re much more likely to be a slower driver.

  • You don’t want that adrenaline rush that comes with speeding
  • You don’t want to make split-second decisions about which route you need to take
  • You what to take it slowly and get to your destination in one peace

If you miss a turning in the road, you’re more likely to spend time finding an alternate way to get on the road. You’re not going to make a sharp turn and take a big risk. Staying safe behind the wheel is very important to you, as it should be.

Arriving at Your Destination on Time

It’s fair to say that a lot of extroverts may arrive at their destination a little late. Perhaps they didn’t leave on time or they decided to stop off at a grocery store on their way

Whatever their reason for being late, extroverts are more likely to be late than introverts. Maybe it’s because introverts don’t want a fuss. They want to arrive on time and not be scolded for running 10 minutes late.

It’s likely that introverts will leave on time and plan ahead for queues of traffic. This is not to say that extroverts won’t do the same thing, they’re just less likely to.

So, the next time you’re behind the wheel and you’re driving safely, be thankful that you’re an introvert. You and your car are much more likely to be safer on the road. In this respect, being introverted could help to keep you alive, and that’s not a bad thing.

Celebrate being a safe driver. Celebrate it in your own way, on your own, or with your favorite quiet person. It’s how we introverts roll.
