6 Trends For Covering Up At The Beach This Summer

Summer is right around the corner and it’s time to start taking advantage of the sunshine. Relaxing at the beach is the perfect way to spend the day but knowing what to wear can be difficult. Swimwear is the obvious choice but you’ll need a cover-up to pair it with. Read on for our best style tips for the beach this summer

  1. Maxi Dresses

Long maxi dresses have been an on-and-off style staple since the 70s and for good reason. A floaty, flowing dress can cover the whole body, make it perfect for protecting your skin when you’ve had a little too much sun, and is also very forgiving if you’re body-conscious. Pick a sleeveless design to keep cool on a summer day and pair it with a large floppy sun hat and rope sandals for a laid-back boho vibe.

  1. Kaftan Crazy

A loose kaftan is a perfect cover-up to throw on over a bikini. Look for a style with a belt that will highlight your waist and if you’re feeling brave opt for a sheer fabric that will show off your swimwear underneath. Look for bold patterns and bright colors to bring some summer energy to the sand. Add some delicate sandals and you’re good to go!

  1. De Rigueur Denim

Daisy dukes or mom style, denim shorts are a failsafe option for the beach. If you’re heading somewhere casual before, during, or after your beach day, pair with a one-piece bathing suit or long-line bikini top for a complete outfit in itself. If you prefer to be more covered, wear a shirt tied into a knot around the waist or tuck it into the shorts.

  1. Sexy Sarong

Sarongs have been around as an easy cover-up for years. A great practical option, especially if you’re heading abroad and have luggage restrictions. It’s lightweight, small, and can double as a skirt for the evenings. Look for a bikini with a matching sarong for a chic outfit, or look for one in black that will go with everything.

  1. Beach-Perfect Pants

Wide-leg pants are huge this summer and there are some gorgeous light versions to wear at the beach and will give your legs a break from the sunshine. Search for a co-ord with a matching camisole or bikini top for a match made in heaven. Pair with big earrings and chunky sandals for a head-turning retro feel as you’re strutting down the promenade.

  1. Linen Look

Linen is a perfect lightweight fabric for a hot girl summer and it’s proving super popular this year. Look for a linen shirt in pastel shades and coordinate your swimwear accordingly. Keep the length long so you can forgo the bottom half of your outfit without being inappropriate off the sand. To prep up your look, add a matching wide headband and you’ll look ready for a Hamptons resort in no time!
