A look at some Las Vegas’ biggest casinos

Las Vegas has long been the spiritual home of gambling, and, indeed, the city of Las Vegas itself has an interesting history. The famous Strip, which is around 4.2 miles long, welcomed its first hotel and casino, The Pink Flamingo, in 1946. The Golden Nugget also opened the same year, as did El Cortez. Later, in the 1960s, the reclusive business mogul Howard Hughes bought a hotel in Vegas and then invested a further $300 million in hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. Gambling in Vegas had truly arrived! There is no doubt the casinos in Vegas face plenty of competition from one another, so standing out from the crowd with elaborate designs, and pulling out all the stops for visitors is their best chance at attracting players. While the best online casinos in the USA offer players sign-up bonuses and free spins as a way of enticing players, these venues aim to wow visitors before they step foot through the door, but how do they do it?

The Bellagio

The Bellagio is an exquisite MGM hotel and casino, with rooms that spoil guests with a view across the Vegas valley and of the Bellagio fountains. Everything about the hotel spells class.

If you visit the Bellagio to play casino games, then you certainly will go to the right place. The poker room covers 7,000 feet and offers 40 poker tables. There are two high-limit areas for players who want to lay down serious amounts of dollars on their games.

If slots are more your thing, you can check out any one of the 2,300+ reels, video poker, and video reel games at the casino. The Bellagio even hosts slot tournaments, with prizes ranging from $100,000 right through to an impressive $1 million.

Finally, of course, you can play other casino classics, such as roulette, baccarat, blackjack, or craps, or you can go for the quirkier pai gow or Let It Ride. If you don’t fancy traditional poker, you have the option of pai gow poker or three card poker.

Luxor Las Vegas

Luxor Las Vegas is another plush MGM hotel that places you right where the action is. The hotel is especially proud of its pyramid-shaped rooms that give it something of a unique quality while still being luxurious.

If you’ve splashed out so much on your hotel room that you wish to play it safe in the casino, Luxor can accommodate you. The casino offers some exciting low-limit $5 blackjack. Novices can take free lessons at midday.

The Luxor casino floor itself covers some 120,000 ft² and 62 games. Just like Bellagio, it’s possible to play classic casino games as well as some of the variations that the Bellagio offers. Luxor also enables you to play mini baccarat and progressive Texas Hold’em.

The hotel features a high limit gaming area, too, where you can play baccarat, variations of blackjack and a selection of slots and video slots.

In terms of slots at the casino, you have a choice of more than 1,300 games. Slot winnings per year at the casino total $16 million, according to the website.

The Venetian

The Venetian is one of two towers and, in true style, the hotel even offers indoor and outdoor gondola rides. If you’re looking to add some romantic flavor to your stay, that’s the way to do it.

Outside of that, The Venetian casino welcomes guests wishing to partake in a little gaming.  The casino has two elegant floors, and its Las Vegas website suggests the casino has the most extensive selection of slots and video poker machines in the city, which will appeal to any fan who prefers slots to table games.

The casino has its own poker room, too. This room is a hotbed of activity, as it hosts five major tournaments each year. That includes the DeepStack Extravaganza.

Park MGM

What was once the Monte Carlo is now the Park MGM and combines two hotels. Some considered the Monte Carlo somewhat run-of-the-mill as far as Vegas is concerned, but a steady hotel that delivered consistently nevertheless. Now it enjoys a new lease of life.

One place it’s gotten serious has been the casino gaming, with some new high limit games. Players can take part in no blackjack, roulette or no commission baccarat or blackjack, or stick to games such as craps, poker (and several variations), roulette or blackjack.

Like the other casinos, you can opt for slots if you prefer. The casino has more than 900 games. You can also play slots in a high limit game area that features 50 specially curated slots.

Las Vegas will always be the gambling capital for many. If US citizens aren’t making the most of the casinos, there are likely to be holidaymakers who will be in their place. Las Vegas is lavish and entertains, so it will never fail to attract someone, whether they’re here to play casino games or just see the sights.
