Exclusive: We talk to Swizz Beatz about No Commission

FAD caught up with Swizz Beatz ahead of the opening oh his non commission art platform ‘No Commission

Swizz Beatz

1 How did No Commission happen?

I was inspired to create a platform that was 100% for the artist. At the time I didn’t see anything out there like it. We are “by the artists, for the artists, with the people”. And then I found the perfect partner in BACARDI to help me make this a global movement and not just a domestic initiative.

2 How did you choose the artists for London?

It is by invitation and we use a lot of resources to select our artists, from social media, to visiting art shows and artists’ studios. Other artists make recommendations, also with the curatorial support of Nicola Vassell from my team at The Dean Collection, we select the most interesting group of up and coming and established artists for each show.

3 Why is the event a good fit for Bacardi?

This partnership is one of the most genuine and authentic I have ever been a part of. They want to connect with consumers in a more visceral way and create cultural experiences that artists and fans genuinely want to be a part of. BACARDI doesn’t just bring the music and the cocktails, they are providing the platform for artists and lifting the night-time experience, taking the event to a whole new level.

4 Which contemporary artists are you buying/loving at the moment?

I’m honestly buying a lot of great shit! J
