April 10th – May 3rd 2014 MEAD CARNEY 45 Dover Street, London, W1S 4FF www.meadcarney.com

Mead Carney Fine Art is delighted to welcome renowned Chicago based Hebru Brantley to the gallery for his debut international exhibition. The body of work titled ‘Everyone’s Everything’ visualises notions of heroism and fantasy portrayed in his playful and adventurous style.

Hebru Brantley employs practice as painter, illustrator and sculptor and has exhibited across the USA in San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles and New York.

Hebru Brantley explores personal and cultural memory in his art. Taking themes from his 1980’s upbringing, Brantley uses a creative process akin to free-?form journaling, using a variety of surfaces and mixed media. His work delves into political and social issues with a conscious focus on playful insight and the optimism and possibilities of youth.

Drawing influence from an array of pop culture icons, comic book heroes, Japanese anime and the bold aesthetics of street art, Brantley’s instantly recognizable style and technique has garnered him an A-?list client base and following.

Brantley is forthright defining himself as a member of the new generation of street artists who are successfully transitioning and uniting their urban roots with the walls of acclaimed galleries nationally and internationally.

Recently at Art Basel Miami Hebru hit the headlines when Jay Z made a public point of purchasing a piece of his work, highlighting the rapport and synergy between Hebru’s creative proposition and the world of hip hop, contemporary and pop culture. Hebru also recently collaborated on a one off piece with world-?renowned producer and artist Swizz Beatz who has also collaborated with Damien Hirst and Marcelo Eco in recent years. Other collectors and admirers of Hebru Brantley include: Alicia Keys, Nicky Minaj, Lebron James and Jay Z to name a few.

About The Artist
Recognized for his murals and gallery shows in Chicago, Brantley has exhibited nationally in the USA and internationally his presence hangs on the walls of the American Embassy in Stockholm. In 2013, Hebru was chosen as a featured artist for Chicago Artist Month and a “Breakout Artist” by New City. Hebru earned his B.A. in film from Clark Atlanta University, and has a background in design and media illustration.

Uniting commercial enterprises with artistic merit, Brantley has welcomed commissions from brands such as Adidas, Nike and Red Bull among others. The artist views the work produced for commercial consumption as another medium of communication and as an important representation for a contemporary lifestyle.

Other notable projects include “The Watch,” a sculpture installation representing the troubles and triumphs local students face in the Chicago neighborhoods. The 16-? figure sculpture, inspired by conversations with students from Chicago Public High Schools who are part of the CIW YOUTH program, re-?envisions Brantley’s original characters to enliven the public space while stimulating community revitalization and national dialogue about the obstacles facing today’s youth.
