Jester Jacques Gallery, alongside FADpresents, proudly present ‘Electric Moon Candy’ curated by Karen Shidlo and showing the artwork of Rob Bellman, Chris Daniels, Super Future Kid, Steven Quinn and Nicholas Goodden at The Other Art Fair 2013.

On show is a diverse and exciting selection of paintings, collages, photographs and drawings. There is overlap in the cut and paste style evident in SFK’s paintings and Quinn’s collages, as well as in the abstract colour fields in the photographs of Goodden and paintings of Daniels. Rob Bellman ties everything together with his drawings of structures and installations, made tangible in a table he has built specifically for the booth at the Fair.

In keeping with FAD and Jester Jaque’s mission to support and represent the best of emerging art in London, each of the artists on display hail from different backgrounds, all equally prestigious and full of promise.

FAD will be running interviews with each of the artists leading up to the show at The Other Art Fair in April 2013. Below

Nicholas Goodden

1. Is this your first TOAF ? if so why are you exhibiting? If not why are you coming back?
Yes this is a first! I like to try different ways of exhibiting my work.

2. Sum up the concepts of the work you are showing at the Fair – have you made anything specifically for the fair?
The concept? Well, as per my motto…beauty is everywhere.. in a rain drop, a window, a pair of shoes…

Nothing was made specifically for the fair.

3. Which artists are you interested in lately as sources of inspiration for your work?
I have always had a passion for street art. It’s often included in my images and I relate to a lot of street artists in how I sometimes include some humour in my work.

4. What are the other influences on your work?
My mood is my biggest influence. If I produce images when I’m happy you’ll see it in what I shoot, but if I’m feeling sad then darkness falls on my work! (Maybe not so dramatic but you get the idea!)

5. Where do you feel are good places for artists to sell and promote their work nowadays? Online shops as Etsy or Saatchi, or fairs?
It’s so easy to have a website that I’d recommend that to anyone looking to promote what they do. If you are not just artistic but also have a business mind, work hard on your SEO, social media marketing and making your website as good as possible… it will lead to success. Of course you have to make sure what you are selling is good too.

6. What excites you most about your medium?
Everybody likes photography. And I like to keep it not too “serious”, people shouldn’t have an education in art to enjoy it.

7. Do you have a quotation or motto that you keep coming back to?
There’s beauty everywhere but not everyone sees it.

8. How much does experimentation come into your process of art making?
It’s massive. Especially for me as I never studied art, I’m a self-learner. Sometimes it’s the most random experiment, the one you don’t learn in books, that produces the best result.

9. What else is coming up for you this year?
I’ve had a solo show in February that lasted 6 weeks, another is planned for the launch of a very cool bar in front of St Paul’s in June and I’m in talks to confirm another possibly before summer.

I also have self-published a book, “London SevenFiftyTwo”, which is a 140 pages of my best London photographs so far (available in softcover or ebook version).

10. Which artwork you’re showing at the fair should we look out for? Which is your favourite?
My “Ghosts of London Bridge” image.

It’s also the cover for my book and the homepage for my site. It shows people on London Bridge in the morning heading towards the City, the way I have captured their movement shows them all standing on one leg like flamingos.
