Whisper is to present new exhibition, Muse, a solo show by LG White. LG White is a Dutch artist who has been based in the UK since 2010. Inspired by poetry and music, LG’s work references her life and surroundings. Often humourous and always mischievous, her work encompasses a varied subject matter that is driven by her personal life experiences and her keen interest in history, politics, philosophy and literature.

In her first solo show with Whisper, LG White exhibits across a broad spectrum of mediums. Original pencil drawings instantly highlight her remarkable talent as a skilled draughtsman, and the fluid transition to printmaking brings delicate photo etchings and bold screenprints to this exhibition for the first time. The Epic Drawings, beautifully detailed pencil on card depictions of imagined landscapes, are juxtaposed with a triptych of haunting photo etchings of the skull.

The skull is transformed in homage to pop art in the form of comic book characters and, in turn, LG’s work progresses to reference contemporary Americana – the telephone, the silver dollar. The exhibition is punctuated with compelling portraits of Francis Bacon and Marcel Duchamp, two of the artists from whom LG has drawn inspiration, and a striking abstract pencil drawing, “Theatre d’Agriculture”. The journey from the surreal landscapes to the photo?real objects is rich with LG’s humour and wit, strewn with references to history, philosophy and pop culture. The exhibition marks the release of LG White’s first suite of screenprints, exclusive to Whisper these three new editions will be available from the opening night
