The Photocopy Club, a new photographic exhibition of photocopied work from all over the world, is to be held at Beach Gallery in Shoreditch, London from February 2nd – 5th, 2012 and Create in Brighton on April 18th.

The brainchild of curator and self-published photographer Matt Martin, this innovative new bi- monthly photography exhibition features photocopied/Xeroxed images sent by postal submission.

Dually based in Brighton and London, the exhibition is designed as a way to take photography away from the Internet, and bring printed matter back in the hands of the public. Wanting to confront the idea of elitism in art, the medium of photocopied art turns the concept on its head, making the art affordable and accessible. The show is in effect a giant zine that everyone can take a page from.

Following the first 6 shows, the best submissions will be curated into a limited edition book. Furthering the theme of inexpensive art, all photocopies will be on sale for as little as £2 – £5, depending on size, with proceeds going to the making of the book.

Since it’s conception in November, entries have flooded in from photographers around the world. The first show, held in December at Create Studios in Brighton, attracted attention from Vice, and Dazed Digital, and the first London show at Beach London is looking set to be even more impressive.
